This is a chunk of Stannite which has a dull grey tarnished surface. It is split and shows a shiny silvery luster. It is a primary ore of tin, although not as common as Cassiterite. Stannite carries 29.6% copper and 27.6% tin. The mineral is chiefly found in high temperature hydrothermal vein deposits. Stannite is relatively soft with a hardness of 4 and has a density of 4.3 - 4.5. This is the type localty.
